As the 2017-2018 President, I am honored and excited to build on the great foundation we have in the Charlotte Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators. We celebrated our Chapter’s 30th Anniversary in October 2016 and are proud of the accomplishments we have collectively made over the last 30 years.
The continuing success of the Chapter would not have been possible without our valued members, leadership and business partners. With that, I want to acknowledge Debbie Lovelett, my predecessor and immediate past President, our Committee Chairs, Board members and our many business sponsors for their dedication to making our chapter a success over these many years.
I first joined ALA in Miami in the early 1990s. As a trailing spouse for my husband’s career, I was then a member of the Boston Chapter for over 10 years. After that, it was the Jacksonville Chapter for 3 years, the Raleigh-Durham Chapter for 3 years and finally (and surely for the last time) I joined the Charlotte Chapter in 2008. Besides appreciation for the great law firms I was privileged to be a part of and friendships made, each ALA Chapter made it much easier to connect in my “new” cities. I truly appreciated each chapter’s welcoming and engaging environment, professional development opportunities and the wealth of resources provided to ALA members – in addition to the invaluable networking (and socializing).
I hope you share these sentiments. I also hope you are taking advantage of the many benefits and activities our Chapter provides. Following are just a few examples:
- Interesting and educational monthly luncheon programs
- Full and half-day conferences for more in-depth learning
- Community Service opportunities
- Peer networking and social events
- Roundtables addressing specific management roles and topics
- Scholarships to Regional and National ALA Conferences
- Annual Charlotte ALA Chapter Salary and Benefits Survey
Please contact me or any Board member to learn more about the Chapter’s activities and how you can get more involved through attending events, serving on a committee and participating on the Board of Directors. In addition, please contact any of us with questions and feedback.
We are excited to be planning our programs and social activities for the 2017-2018 year, and we appreciate your continued support.
